The animals coming from the area around Yate, in the south of the Grande Terre, are heavy bodied and massive,
typically pattern less and ranging in color from golden yellow to olive green or brownish. Some individuals can
be seen with thin white vanishing blotches along their sides and some with a weblike pattern over their entire
body. With a bulky head, a massive trunk, heavy and long thin tail, they can commonly be seen with very loose, hanging skin, especially on their head and neck region.
The animals that originated the captive population were caught by Frank Fast back to the early nineties. Although sometimes territorial, once out of their enclosures, these geckos usually tolerate handling quite well, earning them the reputation of gentle giants. Some of the largest animals known to date come from this area, making this popular locality well known among hobbyists and one of the most sought after.
